Questions Asked of Me
Here are Genevieve’s questions for me to answer:
What are you looking forward to in 2021?
I’m looking forward to building this blog and building my business ventures. I’m also in the process of writing a book, and one of my goals for the year is to finish and publish it before Summer. I’m prone to overloading myself, though, and stretching myself too thin to accomplish anything is something I’m trying to be careful to avoid. Most of all, I’m looking forward to Covid possibly becoming a distant memory, and the end of the tragedy that came along with it.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
Oh no, just one?! My inspirations come in waves, and the answer to this will inevitably change from month to month, or even week to week. Lately, I’ve been heavily inspired by writer and philosopher Alan Watts. The way in which he teaches makes understanding his perspective of consciousness and the universe seem like you’ve known it all along. His eloquent phrasing and delivery marries Eastern thought with Western understanding in such a way that hasn’t really been witnessed since his passing.
I feel I must break the rule a little and talk about Seth Godin, as well. Seth’s business and marketing mastery, his wisdom, and his writings, most notably his most recent work, The Practice, have all heavily influenced my decision to take the plunge and start on my blogging journey. I feel it has paid off immensely well, not in monetary terms, but in the connections I’ve made with fellow bloggers. That means more than anything.
What is your favourite season and why?
This is another difficult question to answer. Each season has their own unique quality to love. I enjoy watching the world around me come back to life in the Spring. I love hot, humid days in the summer, as well as watching heat lightning at night. I like stargazing and playing in the snow during the winter, as well, though, driving in it isn’t very exciting. But, I’d have to say, Autumn is my favourite of the seasons. The cooler winds that signal the leaves to change color, also seem to signal my own creativity. During these months, I tend to write more fiction and other creative works. I also seem to compose more music during this time, as well. I also have a lot of fond memories of old friends in simpler times, and most of them have taken place during Autumn.
What was the last song you listened to?
Fixing A Hole by The Beatles
They’ve always been one of my favourite bands!
What is your blogging schedule?
At the moment, I write my blog posts immediately upon waking up in the mornings. My posts tend to be short, and for the most part, none of them are pre-planned – I write what’s on my mind when I sit at the computer. That said, there hasn’t been a real need to create a formal schedule, though someday, I’ll make one.
If you could change your blog’s niche, what would you change it to?
I would like to write more about music and musicians, as well as writing up some guitar lessons for songs and improvising. Music has always been a passion of mine. Maybe I’ll create a separate music-related blog someday!
What game show would you like to be a contestant in?
I’ve always been a fan of Jeopardy! It was sad hearing the news of Alex Trebek’s unfortunate death, last year. He certainly was a staple in the Game Show industry!
If Jeopardy is out of the question, then another game show I’d love to be on is Family Feud! It’s another favourite of mine since childhood, and another one that I’ve done well with playing from the couch!
Which fictional character annoys you the most?
This is a pretty tough one to answer – mainly because I never really think about characters in this way. However, I don’t particularly like the trope of the unusually cruel antagonist, whether it’s a high school bully or a maniacal tyrant.
To get more specific, though he’s not annoying in the traditional sense, I’ve always thought Frodo’s role in The Lord of the Rings trilogy was overstated. Though the story wouldn’t be what it is without Frodo’s development, I’ve always felt Samwise Gamgee was the real star of the story…
If you had a warning label, what would it say?
“I’m not ignoring you, I’m just listening to music in my ear buds!”
It’s not intentional, I promise! But, I do prefer going through parts of my day accompanied by music, and it just so happens that I don’t hear people, sometimes!
Another one would be:
“Warning, anything you say can, and will, become one of my next writing prompts.”
I think this goes for all writers, though.
What is your favourite thing about your career?
I love the freedom it provides me, as well as having another creative outlet. I like networking with other professionals in my field, and I enjoy being able to solve customers’ problems. The best part of it is getting the chance to make someone’s day!
How would you describe your perfect day?
The perfect day for me would be spent with the family on vacation – probably somewhere near the beach! But, it would have to start with me waking up early enough to get a blog post in and then being able to steal away somewhere to sip coffee and watch the Sun rise! From there, nothing is off limits so long as the obligations are few and the fun is plenty. At night, being able to sit quietly to either get some reading or writing done without interruption would also be nice!
There are too many bloggers to nominate! I’ve picked these favorites in no particular order. Each one of these bloggers have so much to offer the world, and are more than deserving of this recognition!
